Over Spring Break I was brainstorming a few fun activities for my family, and one of the ideas I came up with was a front yard picnic.
Now before I was going to be able to pull it all together, I would first need to pick up a few ingredients for my Strawberry Bacon Salad and a dressing made with Country Time Lemonade Starter.
My kids and I took a trip up to Walmart and headed over to the drink mixes and juice area. There I found 3 varieties of Country Time Lemonade Starter including Classic Lemonade, Half Lemonade & Half Iced Tea, and Berry Lemonade.
I then picked up a package of bacon in the meat section, almonds from the baking aisle, and finished my shopping over in produce with fresh spinach and strawberries.
When I got home, I immediately went to work putting our spring inspired salad together and incorporated the Berry Lemonade into my recipe.
To recreate the Strawberry Bacon Salad Recipe you will need to following:
6 Cups of Prerinced Raw Spinach
2 Cups of Strawberries cut into thirds
1/2 Cup of Shredded Carrots
1/2 Cup of Slivered Almonds
6 Slices of Cooked Bacon Crumbled
Salad Directions: Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl
Ingredients for the homemade Berry Vinaigrette Dressing Recipe:
3 Tbsp of Country Time Lemonade Starter Berry Lemonade
3 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
3 Tbsp of Olive Oil
Directions: Combine all 3 ingredients in a container and refrigerate until ready to use.
Once everything was ready, I then poured the dressing directly over the salad and tossed it. I made sure to completely cover the greens and ingredients with the Vinaigrette. This was enough to serve 3 of us for lunch, as a side it should be enough for 5-6.
For our meal, I also prepared lemonade flavored with real lemon juice. I grabbed a container of the Country Time Lemonade Starter and simply added water directly into everyone’s glass. FYI, the mix can make a pitcher as well since each bottle yields 3 for a total of 6 quarts.
So of course about the time we were getting ready to eat our lunch, a road crew started working on ground lines in the neighborhood. Very quickly our front yard activities became an indoor picnic event.
Have you ever had a front yard or indoor picnic? How could you incorporate a Lemonade Starter into your meal?

Our fun activity still worked out since the kiddos got to enjoy a delicious salad and we all avoided the dust. Plus once the digging was finished, we resumed our day outside and played a family game of baseball.
