Chuggington has an all-new DVD, called “Traintastic Adventures”, and my kids and I were sent a copy to review here on Frugal and Fun Mom! We are huge fans of Chuggington and are always excited when new episodes come out. We have already seen a few of these air on the Disney Channel!
Chuggington is a contemporary CGI-animated TV series created for preschoolers. The story line follows the three young trainees, Wilson, Brewster and Koko, as they learn to become independent trains, and learn how to work together on various projects. And, in these episodes you get to spend a little more time getting to know some of the other train characters like Action Chugger, Zephie, Harrison, Speedy, and Hodge .
“Traintastic Adventures” features six engaging episodes, plus a bonus Badge Quest short, filled with upbeat stories and positive messages for preschoolers. Theses episodes include “The Brewster Booster,” “Koko’s New Look,” “Lights, Camera, Action Chugger,” “Wilson And The Steam Team,” “Stunt Brewster,” and “Hodge and the Chugnav,”
The episode that stuck out the most for me was “Hodge and the Chugnav”. The character Hodge is looking for ways that he can help around the depot, but his services are not needed at the moment. Instead of asking permission, Hodge takes matters into his own “hands” and tries to fix a track lift that is broken. He in turn makes matters worse and causes one of the other trains to become stuck. This is something that both my 3-year-old and 6-year-old struggle with. They think they are big enough to do certain things, and instead of asking permission they try to do things on their own. This can lead to one of them possibly getting hurt or making a big mess.
A few of the other main themes in this DVD were; look for the positive in not the best of situations, be open to other’s ideas, and you have to practice in order to improve a skill. What is really great about this DVD is it helps distract the kids while I have been tending to the new baby, and I really love the lessons that they get from the episodes.
This DVD was released August 14, 2012 and you can look for it in stores now and at Amazon.com! It runs for 61 minutes and retails for $14.98. Inside the DVD, young fans will find an exciting surprise: four collectible trading cards featuring their favorite Chuggers.
