Build-A-Bear has asked bloggers to share Build-A-Bear Workshop’s awesome milestones along with telling a personal story about how Friends Count. I was more than happy to participate in this campaign, because Build-A-Bear has been apart of my family’s lives for a long while. Since the first time we took our son to the Dinosaur Version in Orlando, where he got Tony T-Rex, to the time when my daughter got her first Build-A-Bear named Kitty Cat, we have really enjoyed this keepsake toy. And just yesterday, I redeemed my coupons for Free Tees from the McDonald’s Happy Meal for my daughter’s new little friends.
So here is my personal story:
After I had my first child, my husband and I made the decision for me to become a stay at home mom. I felt very isolated in the beginning and out of touch because I was used to being in the workplace for so many years. I felt conflicted with the person I was and for the first 2 years did not really engage with other moms. I struggled to adjust to my new role in life, and not until I joined a local mom’s group, did I start to engage again.
Through the many activities and moms I met, I began to adjust better to being a stay at home mom and felt confident in the up bringing of my son and my role as a mother. I made some great friends and learned a lot, plus I was able to contribute as well! Now that I am expecting my 3rd child, I am looking forward to getting involved in more activities.
The friends I made in the mom’s group, really mean a lot to me and definitely do count!
