My family happens to have 2 aging dogs that can’t get around very well. We love these guys and they have been very loyal furry friends, however I have to admit that they are a little smelly. Since our pups mainly stay in the living room, this area seems to hold most of the dog smell whether from their body odor, occasional accidents, or frankly flat-out flatulence, plus I am sure this room is also full of dander.
Since these guys are permanent members of the family, I have tried to cover up their essence with air fresheners and baking soda. Much to my disappointment, the odor is still there when I walk in the front door. After all that effort, you could only imagine my excitement when I was offered an opportunity to review the Holmes® Smart Air Purifier with WeMo Technology.
The Holmes® Smart Air Purifier with WeMo technology is a system that offers users total control over their home and family environment while benefiting from a True HEPA air purifier. In addition, this product notifies consumers when air quality is poor so that the unit can be turned on or to change its filters.
It also automatically adjusts speeds when indoor air quality is poor, and the coolest part is this all can be controlled remotely by WeMo.
So what exactly is WeMo?
The WeMo App is technology that delivers home automation solutions for various products like humidifiers, coffee pots, lights, and more. It empowers consumers to customize, control and manage home electronics from anywhere whereby providing them access to a smart home.
Set up is really simple, just add the FREE app via the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Amazon App Store, and follow the instructions. Once you have it installed you can choose your device and use the app to schedule times for the Holmes® Smart Air Purifier to turn on and off, and at what speed or even if you want the ionizer on.
Assembly of the Holmes® Smart Air Purifier is easy as well. I simply unpacked the device, removed the tape and set it in its permanent spot. I then opened it up and removed the HEPA filters.
Since odor reduction is top priority for me, I added the Carbon Filter via Velcro and then placed the filter back in and closed the front. It was then ready to be activated and I could turn this off and on with the WeMo app, or manually.
Holmes® Smart Air Purifier Product Benefits:

I have been using this for a couple of days and could immediately tell a difference in air quality when I entered my home. My kids didn’t even notice that it was set up at first because it blends in with our currently decor, however they could smell the difference.
What are some of the things that you do in your home to reduce odors? Do you use an air purifier?
Of course the most exciting part was having the machine turn on by itself and tell me that my air quality was good. I was also happy I give my family a bit of relief from the dog smell, and to make our living room a more welcoming space.
