The following is a sponsored post on behalf of Produce for Kids.

Produce for Kids and Publix

Produce for Kids and Publix are teaming up a second year for the Healthy Families, Helping Kids Campaign.

This campaign is set-up to help raise money for local health and nutrition-based classroom projects through DonorsChoose.org. Beginning September 26th through October 30th the more produce Publix shoppers add to their carts, the more funds are donated to local children. All participating fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers will make a consumption-based donation, and last year the campaign raised more than $169,000 and supported 652 classroom projects throughout the country.

Be on the lookout for signage featuring characters from the popular Sprout television show, The Chica Show, in the produce section of your local Publix store.

For more information on this campaign, participating brands, and other Ideal Meals recipes visit produceforkids.com.

Fruity Pumpkin Smoothie

In addition, Produce for Kids gave me an awesome Pumpkin Recipe to share by Christine Pittman of Cook the Story, and I can’t wait to try it out myself!

Fruity Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Serves 4, Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup canned pumpkin purée

2 cups lowfat vanilla yogurt

1 cup spinach, loosely packed

½ cup pomegranate juice

1 medium banana

1 medium mango, chopped

1 tsp. cinnamon

⅛ tsp. cloves

Directions:

Place pumpkin, yogurt, spinach, juice, banana, mango, cinnamon and cloves into blender. Blend until smooth.

How do you incorporate produce into your kids meals? Any favorite Pumpkin Recipes?

If you try out the smoothie recipe, let me know what you think!

Yum, great recipe I must try! So ready for fall flavors and pumpkin is certainly one of my favorites. Wish we had a Publix close by again, I really miss that store!

I like spinach but not sure about adding it to a smoothie. Can you taste the spinach? It does sound good though. :)

I love anything that has pumpkin in it. Also, I have found that the kids will eat more veggies if they are in smoothie form.
