Back in April, my husband and I decided to slip away and take a couple’s vacation to the St. Augustine Area. We had gone there by ourselves in 2010 and really had a great time.
In addition, since the birth of our youngest (who is almost 4) we have not ventured off together for an extended time, so this getaway was way over due.
I have a very special place in my heart for St. Augustine. When I lived in Jacksonville, my grandparents used to take me out exploring and we would visit with friends and shop for antiques in a place nearby called Bayard.
As an adult, I have found it to be a relaxing spot to sight-see historic locations, spend time with family, and of course eat delicious local food.
If you are planning on coming to the area and are looking for a resort to stay with children or as a couple, I recommend the Grande Villas at World Golf Village in St. Augustine.
My family has visited this location 3 times and we have been very satisfied with our accommodations and overall experience.
So what are the Reasons Why We Love Staying at Grande Villas at World Golf Village St. Augustine? Check out my thoughts below.
1. Great location to walk, golf, or eat – My husband and I appreciate how off the path this resort is, but still provides access to dining and entertainment. Plus I am impressed with the upkeep of the property, they were updating the buildings while we were visiting.
This resort has beautiful grounds with sidewalks, is surrounded by a gorgeous golf course, and has 5 restaurants nearby. We have eaten at Legends Grille for breakfast a few times as well as Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant for dinner.
We actually saw a screening of The Jungle Book and it was an awesome way to experience the film and hear the production.
3. Excellent amenities at the Grande Villas at World Golf Village – This is a destination within itself with the access to golf, a Lagoon Pool that includes a water feature, and well as a fitness center nearby.
The rooms have always been clean and well stocked. Plus, since there is a kitchen we could easily visit the grocery store and prepare meals in our room.
We have stayed in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Villa and on our recent visit we stayed in a smaller 1 Bedroom Villa that included a kitchenette and stackable washer and dryer.
The best part for me on this trip was being able to sleep in since it was quiet and peaceful.
4. Scenic and convenient drive into St. Augustine – Since we have visited St. Augustine with the kiddos, I have found that is a great destination for couples and families alike.
This location takes us through one of my favorite paths in Florida called 9 mile road (St. John’s Scenic Drive and my photo does not do it justice). It has a gorgeous canopy and represents a piece Old Florida beauty.
Plus, whether visiting the beach, Castillo de San Marcos , or walking around downtown, a trip into the area is convenient from the Grande Villas at World Golf Village.

5. World Golf Hall of Fame and Museum – I am ashamed to admit that neither my husband nor I have yet to go to the museum. It is located on the grounds, but time constraints has not allowed for us to attend.
Next visit we are going to mark it off our bucket list, and also play the mini golf course right near by.
Are you planning a future visit to the St. Augustine Area? Which features of this location do you like best?
