A week ago I shared a trip up to Walmart, where my son and I shopped specially marked packages of General Mills items with 5 Box Tops. Well today I am going to be revealing the Back To School Breakfast Basket I created with those items for an upcoming Box Tops for Education raffle.
Box Tops for Education is one of America’s largest school earnings loyalty programs. There are over 80,000 k-8 schools that participate in this program and since it’s launch in 1996, over $525 million has been contributed to help these organizations. Each Box Top is worth $0.10 and schools can use these funds to purchase what they need in order to help benefit our children’s education.
Since I am a Box Tops for Education Coordinator, through the year I brain storm about various ways to raise awareness to the program as well as opportunities to bring in more contributions.
Of course I have used social media, the school’s email communication , and also placed a logo box at the office, however I have found the most success in making Raffle Baskets.
To create this Back To School Breakfast Basket, I used the following: General Mills Items with 5 Box Tops including 2 Boxes of Big G Cereal, Nature Valley Granola Bars, Fiber One Streusel Bars. I also added a cereal storage box, bowls, cups, serving tray, and $5 Walmart Gift Card.
To finish the basket, I used tape, clear wrap, and tape. I also added patriotic garland to pull it all together and make it attention grabbing. I then took a picture to be emailed to the school and also created a letter. (See it’s details below)
“Dear (School’s Name) Families,
Just in time for Back To School, starting Monday 8/24 through Friday 9/4, for every 10 Box Tops for Education that are turned in, your family will receive an entry for a chance to WIN a Back To School Breakfast Basket.
The Basket includes 2 Boxes of Big G Cereal, Nature Valley Granola Bars, Fiber One Streusel Bars, as well as a cereal storage box, bowls, cups, serving tray, and $5 Walmart Gift Card for you to purchase the milk or OJ.
To enter, simply place 10 Box Tops into a resealable bag along with your Family’s Name and Phone Number. Then bring your bag(s) to the office, there will be a container next to the basket for you to drop them off in.
You can enter as many times as you like as long as you have multiples of 10 Box Tops. PLEASE make a new zip lock bag for each entry along with the Family Name and number for easier tracking.
Any questions, feel free to email me at XXXXXXXX or call (XXX)XXX-XXXX.
Thank you so much for participating and GOOD LUCK!”
