The following is a sponsored post on behalf of PlayTown: My Story Maker.  Opinions expressed are that of my own.

I was asked to review a NEW App for kids called PlayTown: My Story Maker here on Frugal and Fun Mom. This FREE App intended for children ages 3-9 allows kids to create, personalize, and narrate stories.

PlayTown: My Story Maker begins by having your child select an Adventure Play Set. These play sets can range from traveling to playing sports or even exploring outer space. My kids played with the Pirate’s Treasure Hunt, Travel Around the World, and Princess Party Adventure Play Sets.

Next, My Story Maker will invite your child to create and build adventures, select their own stages, props, accessories and cast of characters. These can be princesses, pirates, children, monsters, and much more. Your child can even use personal photos and drawings.

Once they have set their scenes up, they will then create their own dialogue by recording their voice for each character. They can then set their story to music.  Once they finish the story, it becomes live with a play back feature and this can then be shared with family and friends within the app.

My son took right to this and started creating a story.  He told me that he liked the Pirate themed one the best, and I got to listen to him making pirate sounds and sentences for his adventure. He also figured out how to customize the various characters and starting changing out their clothes.

My daughter is really into Mermaids, so of course that is one of the primary characters she ended up creating. Then, she decided that she would sing her stories.  She proceeded to do this over and over again, and then she would bring it over for me to listen. She keeps doing this, and it is SO CUTE!

My children continue to amaze me on how quickly they figure these applications out. They both got into this app and I can tell it is a a hit since they both want to continue to play with it. I asked them why they like it, and they both said, “It records our voices!!!”. I like it because it is FREE and it encourages them to use their imagination.

I also asked my kids if they had any advice for other children playing the program and they said, “Speak up so your voice can be recorded.” and my son said, “Make sure you tap each character when you are recording so they can talk to each other.”

Have your children played this application before? What did they think? If not, what aspects of the App do you like?

PlayTown is FREE to download for Android and iOS and includes 3 Adventure Play Sets. Additional play sets can be purchased for $1.99 each. For more information visit PlayTownforKids.com. You can also check them out on Facebook at facebook.com/playtownforkids.

My son has this app and loves, loves, loves it! It cracks him up, especially the pirate and the parrot when he gets to move them around.

I love this app because it totally promotes reading and literacy. Being able to narrate their own story will help them with fluency and comprehension.
