One of the toughest tasks for me over the holiday season (besides wrapping) is finding the time to prepare recipes for entertaining. Between shopping, school recitals, along with the everyday routine, my time seems to get even more limited each year.
Because of this predicament, I am always on the look out for simple ways to create dishes.
If I can find products that take a couple steps out of recipe preparation, then it is worth the investment to save time.
One of those items that is going to be a big help this November and December, is Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese.
This petite pouch of deliciousness is not only great for a meat and cheese board, but it is an excellent item to spread on toast, fruits, as well as a topping for Hors d’oeuvres.
Not to mention, Goat Cheese offers great health benefits such as being high in protein, calcium, vitamin D, as well as containing less lactose for those with sensitivity to dairy. Plus with the flavors of Cranberry and Cinnamon, it just tastes like the holidays.
I actually utilized this in an appetizer recipe while practicing for Thanksgiving, and I will show you how easy it is to recreate below.
Apple Cranberry Goat Cheese Crostini Recipe (Creates 20 slices)
Ingredients:
1 Package of Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese
1 Baguette
2 Granny Smith Apples
Directions:
First remove the Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese from the refrigerator while prepping the rest of the ingredients to allow it to soften. Then, slice a Baguette into 20 – 1/2 inch pieces (I only used about half a loaf).
Next place these slices onto a cooking sheet or pan and toast under the broiler until slightly browned, this is around 1 minute. Then, cut the apples into 1/2 inch slices.
Finally, spread a thin layer of Montchevre Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese on top of each slice of baguette and add an apple slice.
These Apple Cranberry Goat Cheese Crostini are then ready to serve immediately and they even last over night in the fridge.
I really like this Goat Cheese Crostini because it is easy to put together and has a great presentation.
Plus I love the colors and the contrast of flavor with the tart of the Granny Smith apples, the sweetness of the cranberries with cinnamon, and the richness of the Goat Cheese.
Not only will these be excellent for a party, but they also work well for quick snacks between holiday get togethers.
