Are you trying to keep your family on track with healthier eating habits over the holidays? If so, I have a fun Christmas Tree Platter made of fruit that my kiddos absolutely loved!
Personally, I find it pretty tough to stay on track with healthier eating over the holidays especially with all the temptations floating around.
Starting with Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and next up Christmas along with New Years, there are lots of sweets floating around.
Don’t get me wrong – my family indulges just as much as anyone else, however I find that if I make better for you options more appealing for my children, they just might eat it.
Plus something like a fruit platter with yogurt dip is great for Vitamin C, fiber, as well as maintaining a healthier gut, which is so important during cold and flu Season.
Concerned about Cold and Flu Season AND WANTING TO DISCUSS it WITH A PHYSICIAN at your child’s next appointment? FLORIDA KIDCARE OFFERS PREVENTIVE CARE, INCLUDING HEALTH AND DENTAL COVERAGE.
This Christmas Tree Platter made of fruit is also convenient to take along to a party and is simple to put together.
Read on below for the fruits we used in this dish, as well as how I assembled it.
Christmas Tree Platter Made of Fruit
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
Star Fruit
Navel Orange
Large Gala Apple
12-15 Raspberries
4-5 Kiwis
Lemon or Lime Juice
Lowfat Vanilla Yogurt
Directions:
First, thinly slice your orange and arrange on a large platter. (A cookie sheet with foil would work as well).
Next, thinly slice your apple and wash with lemon or lime juice to preserve the color. Arrange these on top of the oranges.
Then, remove the skin from the kiwi fruit and slice thinly and arrange on the top of the apples in the shape of a Christmas Tree.
Next, slice the Star fruit, remove the seeds, and place one piece at the top. FYI, go ahead and slice the rest and have them ready because every child will want their own star.
Finally, add the raspberries to the tree and place vanilla yogurt into a container to serve as a dip. Tip: You can turn the bottom oranges and apples down to look like a tree trunk.
I suggest serving this fruit immediately with festive plates as well as napkins, and I suspect it will disappear rather quickly.
