My children and I have been enjoying the commercials on the Disney Channel for MARVEL’s newest film called ANT-MAN that came out in theaters this past Friday July 17th. Since the film is Rated PG-13 my kiddos will have to wait a few years before they see it, but that doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy the characters or their helpers, the ANTS!
Hubby and I went to see the film on Sunday and absolutely loved it. It is filled with action, comedy, and has one of my favorite actors Paul Rudd. Not to mention the movie also has actors like Evangeline Lilly from LOST and Michael Douglas (who needs no introduction), as well as sneak peeks in the credits for upcoming MARVEL productions.
Since I was excited about this film, I decided to put together a fun activity for my kids. If you are looking for an easy craft for your children, check out our Ant Paper Plate Craft.
To recreate the Ant Paper Plate Craft you will need:
1 Paper Plate
1 Piece of Red Construction Paper
1 Red Crayon
1 Red Fuzzy Stick
1 Wood Craft Stick AKA Popsicle Stick
2 Wiggle Eyes
Pen
Safety Scissors
Glue
Directions:
Color the paper plate red. Poke 2 holes in the middle with the pen for the antennae. Then cut the plate into an oval shape and glue the Wiggle eyes above the holes. Depending upon your child’s maturity, they may need less or more assistance and adult supervision with the scissors and pen.
Next, cut out 2 sides of the pincers from the red construction paper. I cut out one first and then used it to trace the other.
Then overlap them and glue the opposite from one another and glue that down at the bottom of the Ant face. Next, glue the wooden stick to the back of the plate. Tip: Put the glue bottle on top to weigh it down to get it to adhere better.
Finally after it has dried, insert the fuzzy stick to make the antennae.
This Ant Paper Plate Craft is really easy to make and my kiddos thought it was pretty cool. We actually got on the internet before making them to see pictures of real red ants.
