Next week school will be out and that means I will have 3 kiddos at home wanting to be entertained. Not only will I start scheduling some activities on the calendar to keep them busy, but I will also need to keep up my energy.
Up until about a month ago I had been working out 3 times a week, however I have slacked off recently due to time constraints. I can definitely feel my energy drain towards the end of the day.
If I plan on participating in our summer time activities like road trips, crafting, as well as additional cleanup, it is definitely important for me to take care of myself and set aside time to exercise.
Since it is getting hot here in Florida along with increased rainy days, I also need to adjust how I set-up my workout routine and the clothing that I wear.
In order to get myself back into fitness, I first took a trip up to Walmart to purchase a few items.
While shopping, I paid a visit to the ladies active wear section and found a cute pair of stretchy exercise capris. For additional natural energy, I then headed over to the fruit juice area to grab a few six packs of V8 V-Fusion+Energy Drinks.
There down the aisle I found multiple varieties of V8 V-Fusion+Energy Drinks including Pomegranate Blueberry, Peach Mango, and Orange Pineapple. They are carry Black Cherry, Tomato, Diet Strawberry Lemonade, and Diet Cranberry Raspberry.
Since these are made with GREEN TEA, fruits, and vegetables, this Natural-Energy source is a great tasting beverage that is refreshing after a workout. Plus, they are an excellent source of B Vitamins and are only 50 calories.
Are you also looking to keep up your summer time energy? Here are 5 Steps to Getting Back Into a Workout Routine!
1. Create a goal- Not only do you want to increase your energy, but maybe you also want to walk so many miles, loose a few pounds, or even curb a couple inches off your waist? Either way, set some type of long term goal so you can measure your exercise success.
2. Be sure to wear Appropriate Clothes for the season – Clothes that are comfortable and fit well give you confidence and an overall better experience during your workout.
3. Schedule it – I am old school and still like to use a traditional calendar to write down appointments, practices, and planned events. If I put my workout there, I am more likely to stick with it. Regardless of whether you write it down, put it in your phone, or place it to your online calendar, make sure you add time for yourself.
4. Establish a place to workout – Having a location to exercise at is key to getting started. Maybe you will decide to workout in a gym setting, have an area in your home set-up, or walk in a certain spot. Either way know where you are going in advance to keep up with your routine.
5. Set-up a back up plan – Because it rains during this time of year and the temperature is rising, I have an alternative place for my workout routine. I can either get up earlier to walk, go to the mall to stroll, or workout in my office area to an aerobics video. I have made it possible for me to change up my location if need be, which makes it harder for me to create an excuse not to exercise.
(Before you embark on a new workout routine, consult your physician for advice and for what is physically appropriate for you.)
Of course the best part is showing my kids that we can exercise together, and also providing them with another activity to do over the summer.
Do you have an established workout routine? What changes do you make to increase energy over the summer months?
