During the Fall our family schedule gets busier and will continue to do so until after the New Year. Whether heading to a school event, practicing for holiday performances, or simply shopping for Christmas, our evenings are pretty booked.
On a recent shopping trip to Walmart I found varieties of McCormick Skillet Sauce that have now given me an easy dinner solution, along with also providing my family with a hearty dinner.
On the aisle where gravies and marinara are located, I found Skillet Sauces for BBQ Chicken, Fajitas, Sloppy Joes, and so much more.
Now I know these are dishes something my family would eat, so I picked up 3 varieties to try along with the ingredients needed to complete the recipes.
A couple of Sundays ago, we went to a Pumpkin Festival and by that night I was pretty tired and looking for a simple meal solution.
Since I had everything that I needed, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to make Bell Pepper Chili Bowls.
Preparation for these stuffed peppers was really easy, and to get started I simply preheated the oven to 350 degrees.
Then, I began to follow the instructions on the back of the McCormick Skillet Sauce.
First, I cooked the Ground Beef in a skillet on medium and while it was heating through, I cut the tops off of 5 Bell Peppers and removed the seeds.
Once the meat was finished, I then drained the fat.
I then added in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and the Fire Roasted Garlic Chili McCormick Skillet Sauce.
Next, I brought the Chili to a boil, reduced the heat, and let it cook for 10 minutes.
Once the Chili was ready , I scooped it “carefully” into each of the peppers as to not burn myself.
I then placed these into the oven for 15 minutes.
When the timer went off, I topped each of the peppers with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. I put them back into the oven for 5 more minutes to melt the cheese.
When the peppers were ready to serve, I placed a little Chili in each bowl to level them.
These definitely turned out pretty, and I got the pleasure of feeding my kids a delicious meal inside of a fresh vegetable. FYI, these will be warm so be sure to advise your kids or allow them to cool for a little bit.
