I can’t believe that the summer is already coming to an end. That means it is time to get my kiddos ready to go back to school.
Now based on my “Mom Experience” and the fact that I have done this for a couple of years now, I have it narrowed down to 6 ways that I feel have helped my children get Ready For Back To School!
Tip: I think this helps Mom and Dad prepare for the upcoming changes as well.
1. Take the kids along to shop for school supplies. This always gets my guys pumped up about school, and they like picking out their new lunch box and backpack.
2. One to Two weeks before school starts, have your children go to bed early and have them rise at the time they would if they were going to school. This way they are acclimated to the new schedule. Plus hopefully there won’t be any debating on times the night before, or needing to drag them out of bed the first day back.
3. During that same One to Two weeks, start having your children set out their clothes and also have them dress when they wake. This gets them into their new morning routine. For additional tips on how to have a great morning, check out my post 5 Ways To Make Waking Up Great For Your Children.
4. Towards the end of summer, pick up a few books for reading to get the kiddos into the school mode. There are also plenty of free resources online for math and other subjects as well. My son loves abcya.com, since it has educational games. I also like to print worksheets for my 5-year-old from a website called First School. For grades k-12 check out my Review of PowerMyLearning.org! A FREE Math and Educational Resource for School Age Children!
5. Have them tell you what they would like to eat for breakfast and lunch during the school year. This way they will be excited to get special meals during the week based on their selection.
6. Finally, tell them how excited your are and proud that they are moving up to the next grade level. In addition, mention that they are going to see their friends, go on field trips, and learn all sorts of new things. This really gets my kids ready to go.
Do you have ways that help ease your children back into school? What seems to be the most helpful?
I hope your family has a smooth transition into this next year, and I wish you lots of wonderful school memories.
