My baby loves Cheerios, however he has now decided that he only wants to eat the Honey Nut variety.
Of course I have 2 large boxes of uneaten regular Cheerios that I need to use. I put my thinking cap on and decided to make these into a sweet treat. And to go with the season, I threw on some Candy Corn.
I basically used the same premise that I use for Rice Krispies Treats. I just substituted in the Cheerios and added 1 cup of Candy Corn sprinkled on top. Here is a refresher on the Rice Krispies Treat recipe, Original Rice Krispies Treats.
Tips: Once you put the Cheerios in the container to set, sprinkle the Candy Corn on top and lightly pat with either parchment paper or aluminum foil. Put this in the fridge to set, cut, and serve from there. I left this in the fridge to make sure it stayed firm.
It will be sticky, but it will taste super yummy! I really like how the candy corn color pops against the background of the Cheerios. I think this would be fun to serve at a play-date. (Obviously for kids that are at the age that they can eat candy corn.)
Do you substitute in different cereals for at home Marshmallow Treats? If so, which ones?
If you try this out, let me know how it goes!
