I have been seeing Fall colors pop up in stores here in Florida, and decided to take a trip to The Home Depot to see what plants they had on display. While I was there, I picked up some yellow mums, lavender mums, and orange marigolds. I figured I would put them to use somewhere around my home and they cost me around $2.50-$3 each. Thankfully I had a gift card.
After some thought, and looking around at what I already had, I decided to create a Fall display at my front door. I used 3 sizes of terracotta pots, and soil that was in the pots.
I also grabbed some purple queen out of my yard to add to the display since it is very hardly and roots easily just by putting it into soil or in the ground.
I simply transferred the plants into the pots, putting the marigolds behind the lavender mums, and then I put the largest pots in the back, medium next, and the smallest right in front. This went up next to my front door so visitors would be greeted with Fall Colors including purples, yellows, and oranges . Looking for tips on how to transfer root bound plants to new pots? In the meantime, I also found my scarecrow that I have had for a couple of years and incorporated him into the display as well. Here is one similiar to it Primitive Rustic Fall Harvest Scarecrow 13.5”
This grouping was that easy to put together, and I had a great time doing it. I will be watering my display regularly from now on out, and once the lavender mums open up, I will take an updated picture.
How do you decorate the outside of your home for Fall?
Now my front is rich in fall colors, and I hope this gives you your own inspiration for a Fall Front Door Display.
