Walmart will be giving a total of $1.5 million in grants to Local Nonprofits this Holiday Season!
This year Americans will have an opportunity to voice which organizations they feel need support and deserve to win a portion of the $1.5 million in grants being donated by Walmart. These funds will help communities across the country by providing basic need items like food, diapers, coats, baby formula, and other cold-weather clothing to those in need.
Between November 1 and November 18, 2012 you can vote for local nonprofits at Walmart’s Facebook Page. On December 10, Walmart will start the 12 Days of Giving by announcing funding to the winning nonprofits that were nominated on Facebook.
I just went over to the 12 Days of Giving and nominated a local nonprofit called St. Joseph’s Food Pantry. This organization provides food to those in need and in 2010, approximately 50,000 bags of food were distributed to 25,000 families. Source sjcfl.org.
When the holidays come around, the Food Pantry’s services are in great demand and they make it so individuals in my community do not have to go without a Thanksgiving. My kids and I actually took food items up to the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry last year and will most likely do the same in the next couple of weeks.
The process to nominate an organization at the 12 Days of Giving is really easy. Simply visit Walmart’s Facebook Page and provide the Nonprofit’s name, contact info, website address, and you can also provided a photo, however that is optional.
So what are you waiting for? To get started visit 12 Days of Giving.
And, make sure you leave a comment below sharing which nonprofit you chose!
