Directors, Actors, and other members of the film industry come to this little over a week event, to showcase features, documentaries, shorts, and kid-friendly picks, plus, they give interviews about their current projects, and attend various public appearances. In years past, this event has featured stars like Kevin Bacon, Billy Crystal, Geena Davis, Richard Dreyfuss, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Felicity Huffman, Charlize Theron. I have always thought this was a neat event, because it gives this local community a little piece of Hollywood.
Opening night began Friday April 13th, and the Sarasota Film Festival runs through Sunday April 22, 2012. Some of the artists featured in films will be Penelope Ann Miller (The Artist), Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Lord of the Rings), and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada). In addition, actors and directors will be involved in a Conversation Series, including documentarian Rory Kennedy, the daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy.
During the Festival, I will be given access to screen a few films including Ethel, Welcome to The Machine, Dark Horse, The Day, and Your Sister’s Sister.
